Enrolment advice for first-year students in the BEc and BCom programs
Are you enrolling in the first year of an undergraduate degree program in the Australian School of Business? You may be wondering about which majors to choose and which ones to hold as options, and whether you need to enrol in specific first-year courses in order to keep those options alive. It can be a very confusing time.
There is good news for you from the School of Economics: whether you are considering a possible economics major or not, you do not have to make any decisions in your first year about optional economics courses. As part of the BEc/BCom core, you will enrol in ECON1101 and ECON1202 in the first session, and in ECON1102 and ECON1203 in the second session. Even if you are considering a major in economics, you need not enrol in any further economics courses in the first year.
However, if you are considering a major in any of the other schools (e.g. finance, marketing, management etc.) then you should check whether there is a first-year course that you should enrol in now.
Of course, we hope that you will consider one of the several economics majors on offer. If you do, or if you want to find out more, do come in to the School of Economics and talk to one of us once you are comfortably settled and classes are under way.
